The medical science has made great advancements at organ transplantation technique.  An organ transplant can move an entire or partial organ from one body to another for replacing the damaged or failing organ with a healthy one.  The various transplant surgery includes the Heart transplant, kidney transplant, liver transplant, lungs, pancreas and intestine transplants, the tissues including bones, tendons, cornea, heart valves, veins and skin can be transplanted.  Liver Transplant:  the Liver Transplant known as Hepatic Transplantation in medical terminology.  The transplantation refers to the replacement of a diseased liver with a healthy liver allograft.  The liver transplantation is a widely accepted treatment option for those suffering from end- stage liver disease and acute liver failure.

• Techniques of Liver Transplant: the liver transplants are done in an orthotopic fashion in which the liver is removed and the new liver is placed.  The surgery is performed through a large incision in the upper abdomen.  Many liver transplants implant the entire liver from a deceased donor to the recipient; this surgery is performed mainly on the adult patients. 

Paediatric Liver Transplant: it is a transplant for the infant or small child in which a portion of an adult liver is implanted inside the child’s body. 

Split Liver Transplant: in this surgery one liver is used for transplants for two recipients.

Living Donor Liver Transplant: involves removal of approximately 20% of the liver. 

Immunosuppressive Management: the recipients of the Liver Transplant are receives immunosuppressive medication for the rest of their lives.
